CASE #16

  Alessandro Castellarin, MD

AND
Larry Frohman, MD
Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and Neurosciences

Case: A 29-year-old left-handed woman, with no visual problems, was referred to the NJMS Department of Ophthalmology following a visit to a new vision provider—to update a 10-year old contact lens prescription—who informed her that she showed signs of a brain tumor or possible multiple sclerosis. The vision provider referred her to an ophthalmologist, who, in turn, referred her to our service.

Ophthalmological History The patient recalled wearing a frosted lens and a patch in the left eye in early childhood. Vision in the left eye has always been better than in the right eye.
Medical History Healthy patient, no significant medical history
Smoking/Drinking History No tobacco or alcohol consumption
Medications The patient is taking no medication.
Allergies No known or documented allergies
