The Committee on Telemedical Services reports to the Council on Psychiatric Services of the American Psychiatric Association [APA]. Its mission is to monitor technologic developments, ethical issues, and medical/legal issues in telemedicine as they apply to psychiatry; review potential activities with other medical and governmental agencies and organizations, in concert with APA; educate the membership regarding benefits, disadvantages and barriers to telemedical applications; provide information regarding cost-effective videoconferencing for APA purposes.
