The American Society of Addiction Medicine [ASAM], a non-profit organization, is the nation's largest medical specialty society dedicated to educating physicians and improving the treatment of the 17 percent of the population suffering from alcoholism or other addictions. There are 28 state chapters associated with the national society.

The American Society of Clinical Hypnosis [ASCH] is a not-for-profit organization of professional people in medicine, dentistry, psychology, social work, nursing, and mental health who share scientific and clinical interests in hypnosis. The non-profit American Society of Clinical Psychopharmacology [ASCP] was formed in 1992 to advance the science and practice of clinical psychopharmacology. It has some 800 members.

Objectives:

  • Support and encourage clinically relevant research in psychopharmacology and the rapid dissemination of new findings
  • Facilitate exchange of information among senior psychopharmacologists and other investigators in the field and the exchange of information and discussion between investigators and practitioners of psychopharmacology
  • Stimulate and encourage young investigators interested in psychopharmacology

  • Develop constructive relationships with mental health advocacy groups
  • Advocate public policies which promote clinical research of psychiatric disorders and the delivery of high quality patient care
