About: | Founded in 1907 and based in Lausanne, Switzerland, ICAA is the premier international non-governmental organization concerned with reducing and preventing the harmful effects of the use of alcohol and other drugs. It is a membership organisation with menbers in some 80 countries and all five continents.
As an umbrella organization for all those concerned with alcohol, drug and tobacco problems, it provides a neutral, objective platform for both professional and lay people. At its annual Institutes and triennial Congresses the latest scientific and research findings, project evaluations, new strategies, programmes and ideas are presented and subjected to critical examination. It has played a leading role in the development of responses to alcohol and other drug problems. Besides its world conferences, its training programmes, publications, assistance with study tours and documentation centre/library provide members with the opportunity to further knowledge and expertise and to network with people in different parts of the world who have similar interests and projects. |
