About: | The National Laboratory for the Study of Rural Telemedicine is a project that utilizes Wide Area Networking (WAN) and Local Area Networking (LAN) technologies in order to further its mission, goals and objectives. These components together are referred to as the NLM testbed. Because the testbed functions as the main delivery vehicle for the project, its reliability, availability and security can not be minimized. The Telecommunication Services Department of the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics has been instrumental in the design, implementation and on-going operations of the current testbed infrastructure and will continue to provide this support under the new National Library of Medicine contract. |
