About:

The Psychoanalytic Center of California [PCC]. was registered as a Nonprofit Organization in 1984. It is a Component Member of the International Psycho-Analytic Association.

The special interest of the PCC is to explore treatment modalities that reach beyond the realm of classical neuroses. Research into primitive mental states, including narcissistic, borderline, autistic and psychotic states, is an important addition to our understanding of the mind and to the development of more complete treatment of serious mental disorders.

The orientation includes an appreciation of the works of Melainie Klein, Wilfred Bion, Ronald Fairbairn, Donald Winnicott and those more contemporary analysts who have expanded their ideas. Never the less, all points of view are represented, welcomed and encouraged.

About:

Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center [PPSC] is a psychoanalytic training institute. PPSC is dedicated to using multiple theoretical perspectives to provide high-level training in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy to psychologists, social workers and other qualified mental health practitioners.

PPSC operates from the premise that psychoanalytic training is enriched by exposure to all major theoretical orientations. We believe openness to different approaches will greatly facilitate the growth and development of the clinician. Programs provide a solid grounding in basic psychoanalytic theory. At the same time the curriculum and study environment challenge the candidate to compare and integrate significant contributions of four major orientations.

  1. 4-th Annual Lifetime Achievement Conference New York, NY: May 5, 2012

Event
#1
Detail:

4-th Annual Lifetime Achievement Conference
(Kindly consult the meeting's Web pages.)

May 5, 2012

New York, NY

Sponsor: Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy Study Center [PPSC]

Honoree Frank Lachmann, PhD has been a major contributor to Contemporary Psychoanalysis and Self Psychology. In their joint work, Frank Lachmann and Beatrice Beebe enriched psychoanalysis by providing life-long principles of the organization of experience, derived from empirical infant studies, that offer new ways of understanding and potentially transforming the analyst-patient relationship.

Dr. Lachmann has uniquely been able to draw on his love of music to inform the analytic process. Utilizing master classes taught by Isaac Stern, and the music of Richard Wagner and Igor Stravinsky, he discovered illustrations of cross-modal transfer and violations of expectations. As a writer, scholar, teacher, and supervisor, Frank Lachmann has continued to surpass our expectations with humor, complexity, a depth of tradition, and breadth of innovation.

Dr Lachmann will present two papers: “Chills, Thrills, Goosebumps and Therapeutic Action,” a multi-media presentation on affective communication, and an autobiographical account, “How I Became Me.”

Presenters:

    • Frank Lachmann
    • Shake' Topalian, MA, APRN, BC
    • Rebecca Harrington, LCSW (moderator)
