About:

The Telemedicine & eHealth Forum of the Royal Society of Medicine was established in 1997 to provide a United Kingdom meeting place for everyone in healthcare with an interest in telemedicine and telecare. Telemedicine activity is increasing in the UK, but the evidence for its cost-effectiveness remains scanty. The Forum is addressing both current issues and future applications, spanning the entire spectrum from realtime, three-dimensional imaging to community care at a distance.

The aims of the Forum are:

  • The exchange of views to promote an understanding of telemedicine
  • To promote research into Telemedicine
  • To disseminate good practice and establish standards
  • To act as the focal point for Telemedicine in the UK
