CASE OF THE MONTH

CASE #1

NEURO-OPHTHALMOLOGY

Interpretation of MRI scans: The scans demonstrate “stem to stern” enhancement of the optic nerve, from the globe to the optic chiasm. Please note that the radiologist missed some of the key findings—a reminder that the ophthalmologist or neurologist who oversees the case should review the films to locate the suspected pathologic lesion, on the basis of the results of the clinical examination. We noted a definite involvement of the contralateral posterior optic nerve (arrows).
