CASE OF THE MONTH

CASE #12

WHAT WAS THE VISUAL OUTCOME?

3 WEEKS AFTER TREATMENT: The patient slowly improved over the next 3 weeks with a completely quiet anterior segment OS and apparent resolution of the infection. The development of a subhyaloid hemorrhage delayed recovery of visual acuity, which had improved to 1/200. Funduscopic examination 3 weeks after vitreous biopsy disclosed retained lens cortical fragments and a view of the nerve and macula. Echography showed moderate vitreous opacities and a completely attached retina.

6 WEEKS AFTER TREATMENT: Six weeks after being discharged, the patient had recurrent anterior segment inflammation.
