 A. Larval nematode 4 mm in length. B. The specimen was noted to have an armed head bulb with 4 transverse rows of cephalic  hooklets. C. Each transverse row contains between 42-46 hooklets.

 The morphologic features of the specimen, together with the patient’s history of residency in Latin America, were sufficient to  make a presumptive identification of a third-stage (L3) larva of Gnathostoma spinigerum in the patient’s right eye.
