Case:
A 14-year-old right-handed adolescent boy reported sudden
painless visual loss in the right eye of 3 weeks duration
upon arrival at our neuro-ophthalmology service. |
Past
Ocular History |
|
Lymphangioma
of the left orbit found at age 7 months |
|
The
patient underwent 4 surgical procedures involving the left
orbit and eyelids because of the lymphangioma, with known
stable residual tumor |
Review
of Systems |
|
No headaches,
transient visual obscurations, tinnitus, nausea or vomiting,
nor other neurologic complaints were reported. |
Early
Course |
|
The
referring retinal specialist diagnosed a central retinal vein
occlusion (CRVO) OD. |
|
Laboratory
tests were ordered as well as an MRI of the brain and orbit
because of our concern that the existing left orbital mass
had grown into the right orbit, causing CRVO in the right
eye. |
|
The
MRI findings led to a neuro-ophthalmic consultation. |
