WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE THE PATIENT’S PHYSICIANS?

  • Base the therapy on symptoms, not on ESR levels
  • No active constitutional symptoms of temporal arteritis
  • Taper steroid regimen once again
    – If ESR remains high, consider workup for paraproteinemia and other sources of elevated ESR

   The patient was sent back to the referring physicians.
