CASE OF THE MONTH

CASE #10

WHAT FURTHER HISTORY SHOULD BE ELICITED FROM THE PATIENT?

The patient has a granuloma that could be a manifestation of infection (eg, Toxocara canis, tuberculosis) or inflammation (eg, sarcoidosis). The patient reported no history of breathing problems. She had moved from Jamaica to the United States 6 months earlier. In Jamaica, she had worked as a housewife and raised 3 children, a dog, and a goat.

What further testing would you do to determine the etiology of the retinal granuloma in this patient?
