Veteran's Health
The stresses of war — deployment, combat, environmental hazards — take their toll on our troops. Reacclimation to society can be difficult. Veterans may develop anxiety, anxious disorders such as posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression that are a direct result of service. Toxic exposures and environmental hazards add to the veteran's burden. The SMBI strives to understand the nature of stressors, their attendant neurobehavioral and neurobiological consequences to be able to suggest effective treatment methods.
